9am Briefing: 5 teenagers rushed to hospital after horror A1 smash

FIVE teenagers have been rushed to hospital after a horror smash in the early hours of this morning.

Three male and two female occupants were travelling east on the A1 when the car crashed on a slip road at around 3.30am.

• FIRE fighters are tackling a blaze in a hotel in Linlithgow this morning.

The blaze started at 7.04am in the Star and Garter Hotel in High Street.

A fire service spokesman said the fire is currently in the first and second floors and it is suspected it is spreading into the roof space.

Everyone was out of the building before the fire service arrived.

• THREE lay governors have quit Edinburgh College of Art over plans for it to merge with the University of Edinburgh.

Governors Lady Mathewson and Robert Robertson announced their resignations yesterday, and it was revealed that Professor Stephen Black had resigned two weeks ago.

Lady Mathewson said: "I and my fellow governors who have resigned no longer have confidence in the Chairman or Principal."
