Bronté Barbe: And Me!

RH: What’s not to love?

What will we learn from your show that we didn’t know before?

That choreography on office chairs can actually be quite exciting.

What was the biggest inspiration for your show?

We just WhatsApped the writer and he sent us a four minute voice-note, which is of course not particularly useful for this interview. To sum up, he said something about The Jinx, The Staircase and Don’t F*** with Cats, where people inserted themselves into the story. And then he said something about musical influences from The Simpsons and The Muppets.

We think it mainly comes from the widespread love for true crime and that the demographic tends to be women. A lot of the time this love is (what’s the word I’m looking for - trivialised? Made fun of?) and seen as something only for outcasts and geeks, when in reality there’s a pretty universal desire to understand why these truly hideous crimes happen, to solve them and in turn protect ourselves from the same fate.

What’s the best review you’ve ever had, and the worst?

Best - OMG I love you, you are everything.

Worst - Eat cock and die you f***ing lesbians.

Oh and ‘It’s like being hit over the head by Scooby Doo fans with ADHD!’

Who or what are you most excited about seeing this year?

BB: Bloody Elle, Boy out the City, No Love Songs.

RH: Jill, the physio!

Who do you most like spending time with in Edinburgh?

Dogs.

Tell us something about you that would surprise people.

RH: I have a very strong but very irrational fear of the game charades.

BB: I still wear my retainers at night.

What are the best and worst things that have happened to you at a festival?

RH: My best and worst was in the same moment. In Edinburgh last year I got mobbed in the street by fans, then realised they were talking about a different show and thought I was someone else.

BB: I tend to avoid other festivals after hearing about the woman who fell in the toilet trough in Leeds.

What’s the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?

BB: Step 1: cleanse. I use warm water and Aesop’s in two minds facial cleanser.

Step 2: Tone. I use Aesop’s in two minds facial toner.

Step 3: moisturise: I like to use a cream on the thicker side so I opted for Le Labo’s face cream.

Step 4: eyes: I use Khiel’s midnight recovery eye serum.

Step 5: Don’t forget your hands! I like to use Aesop’s resurrection hand cream.

Step 6: snooze. Tehe.

RH: Morning: Eat leftover kebab. Evening: Eat fresh kebab.

Thanks for the interview! We’d like to buy you a drink. Where are we going and what are we drinking?
