Join Jess the Jester on a magical adventure and bring history to life through an award-winning free augmented reality app trail ‘In the Footsteps of Kings’. Cuddly alpacas – two great places to visit
For a unique and pretty cool experience, walk with alpacas at Claireville Alpacas or Bowbridge Alpacas.
The walk from Claireville takes approximately 45 minutes, but you’ll also get to meet the other alpacas and learn a bit about them. You'll discover each alpaca has its own character, but they're all friendly and adorable. Don’t miss the friencly Valais Blacknose sheep, who just love to be petted!
Underground secret tunnels
Are you ready to discover Scotland’s best kept secret for over 40 years? Hidden beneath an innocent Scottish farmhouse, a tunnel leads to Scotland’s Secret Bunker. The bunker was built by the RAF is 1953 in response to the threat of nuclear war with the USSR – a 24,000 sq ft of command centre with the latest radar technology of the cold war era, dormitory, plotting rooms and kitchen facilities to explore. It's fascinating!
Outdoor adventures – and scones!
If you’re feeling active, head to Cluny Activities, one of Scotland’s leading outdoor adventure centres, where the kids can burn off energy and boost their vitamin D! Spoilt for choice, they can enjoy hours of fun in the adventure park, play on Scotland's first footgolf course, take a Segway tour, hit some balls at the driving range, or try their hand at archery! There’s also a lovely café onsite, where you can enjoy brunch, lunch or a cuppa.
Meet zebras and meerkats
Aiming to be the best little zoo in Scotland, Fife Zoo will be a hit with families of animal lovers...and who isn't to be honest? Located near Cupar, the zoo is open seven days a week 10am - 4pm and you can get up close with zebras and meerkats, as well as some other cool animals.
Simply amazing!
Cairnie Mega Maze is the perfect day out for active kids. A ticket gives you unlimited use of the Funyard, which is packed with fun activities all day. Highlights include the go-cart track and the giant straw bale climbing fortress. There are also sunken trampolines, zipline, crazy swings and bouncing pillow, as well as other surprises! The highlight though is the maze of maize which grows up to 8ft. Once the kids have finished playing, pick some berries for tea...or the journey home!
On your bike
Fife Cycle Park is an outdoor cycling facility, near Lochore, and the first of its kind in Scotland with a purpose built 1.6km tarmac cycle circuit. Bring your own, or hire bikes and helmets there and enjoy a family cycle off-road in a completely safe environment. A few minutes along the road, Lochore Meadows, Fife’s most popular free attraction, offers watersports, beautiful walks, a castle and a play park. Plenty to keep the kids amused!
Craigtoun Country Park
Situated on 47 acres of well-maintained grounds, just two miles from the historic town of St Andrews, dog-friendly Craigtoun Country Park is open all year round. Discover the free adventure playground, trampolines, fairy glen, trim trails and a 30ft zip wire. Seasonal paid attractions include Rio Grande Miniature Railway and Puffin’ Billy tractor rides, boating, putting, crazy golf, bouncy castles, pedal cars and go-karts.
Make a splash with waterskis and wakeboards
Town Loch is the National Training Site and home of Waterski & Wakeboard Scotland.
Set within the beautiful surroundings of Townhill Country Park, less than five minutes from Dunfermline, Town Loch offers unrivalled facilities and is amongst the best in the UK.
