Volleyball: City too slick for the Jets

City OF EDINBURGH reached the last eight of the men's Scottish Volleyball Cup with a straight-sets win over Edinburgh Jets and the club hope it could be their year.

The champions, who have never won the trophy in spite of two final appearances, won through in straight sets 25-10, 25-23, 25-17.

With off setter Paulo Puggioni making an important contribution, City took full command of the first set but Jets came back in the second to lead 16-14 at the second technical time-out. But a series of errors let City back into it and they powered through to take the set 25-23. Their focus didn't slip in the final set with Ben Hunter making some decisive hits through the middle as they saw out the match.
