UCD 1-4 St Johnstone: Trialists shine for Saints against Irish students

Bosnian-Swiss forward Danijel Subotic staked a claim for a Perth contract by handing out a lesson in the art of striking to University College Dublin.

The 22-year-old, who spent time with Portsmouth, has been in the spotlight during St Johnstone's Emerald Isle trip.

Derek McInnes seized another chance to weigh up trialists Marcus Haber and Subotic in a match with the Irish part-timers, and both players caught the eye in a one-sided affair.

The Perth side wasted no time in seizing the initiative as midfielder Kevin Moon lashed a spectacular 25-yard shot into the top corner of the net.

Subotic made it two in the 21st minute with an impressive solo strike.

Picking up the ball on the edge of the UCD area, he passed two defenders to blast an angled shot past the keeper. Then, substitute Stevie May curled a close range finish into the corner seconds before the half-time whistle. UCD replied after the interval, but Murray Davidson made it four for St Johnstone.
