Second Division: Rory McAllister's hat-trick helps Brechin top table

A HAT-TRICK from Rory McAllister pushed Brechin City to the top of the Second Division as the Glebe Park men defeated visitors Peterhead 4-2.

Craig Malloy put Jim Weir's side ahead after only two minutes, with Dennis Wyness levelling from the penalty spot nine minutes later after Graeme Sharp had been fouled.

McAllister then took centre stage, scoring just before half-time and then adding two goals in a nine-minute spell during the second half to make the score 4-1.

Martin Bavidge hit an injury-time second for the Blue Toon, but they were well beaten.

Livingston lost for the first time in the league this season, to sit second on goal difference, following their 3-1 setback at Ayr. A Liam Fox rocket shot gave the Lions a first-half lead, however Eddie Malone equalised with 15 minutes left when he nodded the ball home.

Somerset Park striker Mark Roberts converted a Danny McKay pass and then headed in a Scott McLaughlin corner to give the Honest Men their best result of the season.

Andy Tod scored before half-time with Bryan Deasley grabbing a late second. Despite Ross Campbell going close, the visitors could not come up with a third goal.

After a goalless first half, ever-improving Airdrie won 3-1 at Dumbarton with both Ryans, McCord and Wallace, scoring for a second week running to put the Diamonds two ahead with 62 minutes gone.

Paul Maxwell pulled a goal back from close range before Scott Gemmill skipped past a static home defence to ensure an Airdrie win.

Stenhousemuir hit back through Stevie Murray's drive that clipped a post on the way in to draw 1-1 with an East Fife side that had led through a John Ovenstone headed goal just after half-time.
