Michael Sim shares second spot in San Diego

MICHAEL Sim, the Aberdeen-born Australian, finished joint-second behind American Ben Crane in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

Sim, whose parents emigrated to Australia in the 1990s, closed with a 71 for a 12-under-par total – one behind the winner.

Crane landed the third PGA Tour win of his career thanks to a closing two-under-par 70, having started the day two strokes behind 54-hole leader Ryuji Imada of Japan.

Martin Laird saved his best round of the week for last with a 68 to get to five-under and a tie for 27th.
