Kristie Smith shares lead on her home patch

Home favourite Kristie Smith holds a share of the lead after the second round of the ANZ RACV Ladies Masters in Queensland.

Perth golfer Smith carded six birdies and an eagle at the 482-yard par-5 third in her seven-under-par 65 to lie level with American Stacy Lewis, who also shot a 65, at 12-under-par. Taiwan's Yani Tseng is one shot behind the pair after a 66.

There had been six players at the top of the leaderboard following the opening round and Spain's Maria Hernandez was the best of that group on day two as her round of 68 put her in a six-way tie for third at 10-under for the tournament.

That group includes England's Melissa Reid, the top British contender, after her 67, while Wales' Becky Brewerton is a shot further back after her own round of 67.

All five Scots in the field failed to make the cut, though Krystle Caithness could count herself a touch unfortunate at missing out. The Fifer fired a second-round 71 for a four-under-par total, one shot too many in a low-scoring event.

Kylie Walker (73 for 147), Vikki Laing (74 for 148), Lynn Kenny (73 for 149) and Carly Booth (76 for 158) also bowed out.
