How the Rangers players rated

Neil AlexanderA surprise 33rd birthday present in the form of a run-out ahead of Allan McGregor. Made an excellent block at feet of Marcus Berg early on and exuded confidence. 7/10

Richard Foster

Unfussy and unremarkable and rarely used his pace unless darting towards his own goal. Should have been marking Marcelo when he missed an open goal in the second half. 7

David Weir

The prized clean sheet achieved was testament to his calm organisation as his team came under increasing pressure, even if he toiled to make up ground on a couple of occasions. 7

Kyle Bartley

The premier Ibrox player in preventing PSV prising openings, he also forced a fine save with a header. Left the field temporarily with a nosebleed - not caused by straying into the opposition box. 8

Madjid Bougherra

Solid enough in his snuffing-out duties, although the odd moment of careless continues to characterise his contributions. 7

Steven Whittaker

Put his challenges in and was vigilant down the left, surging beyond the halfway line to good effect on a couple of occasions. 7

Kyle Lafferty

Another raggle-taggle, disappointing display from the Irishman, he wasn't particularly effective supporting attack or defence from the left of midfield. Only player booked before making way for Gregor Wylde in 81st minute. 4

Maurice Edu

Too often squandered the meagre possession that came his way in opening period but showed better composure after the interval. 6

Steven Davis

How to be creative in a side whose aim is defensive is a conundrum for a midfielder who never seems entirely at ease as simply a chaser and harrier. 6

Kyle Hutton

Failed to make any real impression. It wasn't an easy game for the 20-year-old to start but he stuck in and closed down space. 6

El-Hadji Diouf

Forced deep from his sole striker role in attempts to play off his team-mates. An exceedingly tough gig. 5
