Hibs 'still have a point to prove'

Colin CALDERWOOD today insisted his Hibs stars still have a point to prove every week after watching Francis Dickoh grab a last-gasp winner against St Mirren.

Dickoh's header made it three wins in succession for the Easter Road outfit - the first time they've managed such a feat in a year - further easing their relegation worries as it lifted them 11 points clear of basement outfit Hamilton.

Revealing Dickoh's goal was all the sweeter for having arrived in the 87th minute, Calderwood admitted the two victories over Saints, sandwiching a victory against Kilmarnock, this month have given his side some breathing space - but warned his players they must keep it going. He said: "We've taken six points from St Mirren which has taken us from behind them to in front of them, It's given us a big lift and it was important for had it gone the other way we'd have been at a crisis point.

"It helps in the short term but the longer term has yet to be decided. I said to the players before yesterday not to think winning two games makes us a good team or that they had done everything they can. There are no 'dead rubbers' between now and the end of the season, we obviously have a point to prove in everything we do."

Calderwood was willing to concede Hibs' first victory in Paisley since 1999 was based on "determination and resilience" rather than tactics or technique, the result ground out rather than secured in style, leaving, he admitted, lots of room for improvement.

And while delighted with another triumph, Calderwood immediately looked for more, saying: "We're obviously determined to keep this run going and that determination got us through the 90 minutes because we weren't particularly fluent."

Meanwhile, midfield youngster Sean Welsh has joined First Division strugglers Stirling Albion on loan for a month.
