Golf: Lothians trio in Scots team

THREE Lothians players - on-form Lesley Atkins, Gabrielle MacDonald and Rachael Watton - are in the Scotland team for next week's Girls Home Internationals at Bangor in Northern Ireland.

Loretto pupil Atkins, a member of Gullane Ladies, secured her place in the team by winning the Scottish Girls Championship at Eyemouth earlier this month. And she celebrated in style by adding the Mackie Bowl over her home course on Sunday, firing rounds of 71 and 69 for a four-shot victory in the SGU Order of Merit event.

Craigielaw's MacDonald, who lost to Atkins in the semi-finals at Eyemouth, is one of three new faces in the team, joining Hannah McCook from Abernethy and Ailsa Summers of Carnoustie. Atkins and Mortonhall's Watton played in last year's Home Internationals at Fairhaven, where the Scots finished runners-up to England.
