Keith lift Highland League Cup

KEITH were last night toasting a Highland League Cup win after surging back from behind to beat Inverurie Locos 2-1 in Banff.

The Maroons ended a six-year wait to recapture the trophy and bring silverware joy after a dismal league campaign.

Cammy Keith emerged as the hero with a spot-kick clincher – and even had the luxury of missing another penalty before the end.

Scott Begg tapped home the opener for Locos with 17 minutes gone. But Andy MacAskill cracked in the equaliser on 57 minutes and Keith then kept his cool from the spot in the 75th minute and then missed a last-minute spot-kick.

Meanwhile, the Highland League title fight will go down to the wire after Formartine were shock 3-1 losers at home to Nairn County.

Cove’s 2-0 win at Rothes set up a last-day cracker away to Formartine for the title.
