HEARTS are facing a late fight to hold on to midfielder Jason Holt as Nottingham Forest prepare a last-ditch bid to try and sign him before the transfer window in England closes at 11pm tonight.

Forest, managed by Scot Billy Davies, have already had two bids rejected for the Scotland under-21 internationalist, but they are not willing to take ‘no’ for answer with Hearts in serious financial trouble.

Forest raided Scotland last month to re-sign central defender Kelvin Wilson in a £2.5 million deal from Celtic and have made an impressive start to their Championship season. Although they lost 2-1 at Wigan on Saturday, it was their first league defeat and they are fourth, just three points behind Blackpool and QPR.
