Freed Kilmarnock midfielder Scott Robinson has signed for Dunfermline as an amateur, writes Iain Collin.

The former Hearts player has been training with the League 1 champions since leaving Rugby Park last month less than a year into the three-year deal he penned last summer.

The 24-year-old scored as a trialist for the Pars’ under-20s in a 3-2 win over Hamilton last week and has been given an extended opportunity to earn a long-term deal.

Signing on non-professional terms will allow the Fifers to see Robinson, who left Kilmarnock after the transfer window had closed, in competitive action and he could make his debut against Albion Rovers this afternoon.

Pars boss Allan Johnston said: “We’ve signed Scott as an amateur and it’s just a chance to get a longer look at him.”
