Derek McInnes bemoans penalty call as Aberdeen set unwanted record in defeat to Celtic
It is the first time in the club’s 118-year history that the Dons have gone six consecutive matches without finding the net but McInnes felt his side should have been given the opportunity to end that drought from the penalty spot.
A handball in the box from Celtic defender Stephen Welsh in the first half went unpunished by referee Alan Muir leaving McInnes frustrated.

“It’s come up on him from about two yards away, his hand is out to the side. Speak to the referee department and they say it’s an unnatural position.
“The exact same incident happened outside the box for Celtic and they get a free-kick.”
McInnes' side have now won just once in 10 matches and remain four points behind Hibs in the race for third having played a game more.
The long-serving Dons boss admitted that setting a new record for lack of goals is a concern, but took positives from the performance.
“Of course it [hurts], but we need to take responsibility for that,” he added.
“We are working with the boys we have brought in to try and get them up to speed. I am encouraged, but also disappointed that we now hold that record and it is not something that we want to have aimed at us, but it’s there and only we can do something about it now."
