SHORTLY after the Europa League draw was made, grouping Celtic with Fenerbahçe, Ajax and Molde, fans of the Turkish side apparently took to Twitter to issue a ‘warning’ to their Europa League opponents.

A handful of Fenerbahçe fans posted photos on Twitter of themselves clad in the club’s colours with scarves covering the lower half of their face and brandishing knives.

But a number of Celtic fans responded by posting their own versions poking fun at the photos.

One Hoops fan posted an image of himself clad in a Celtic shirt and scarf and wielding a spoon while a second fan opted for some plastic cutlery.

A third fan held up a vacuum cleaner and a fourth supporter posed with a cactus.

However, as the implements got more and more ridiculous, one Fenerbahçe fan appeared to confirm that it had all been a joke.

It’s a funny old game, isn’t it?
