DAMIAN CASALINUOVO has revealed how a group of kind-hearted Dundee United supporters befriended his father during the Clydesdale Bank Premier League win at Aberdeen.

The Argentinian striker's dad, Jose Luis, had flown over from Buenos Aires to watch his son in action at Pittodrie on Saturday and had travelled north by train on his own. Casalinuovo snr, who does not speak any English, was spotted by fans celebrating wildly when his son scored the opening goal and was invited to travel back to Dundee on a supporters' coach.

Casalinuovo, who will start tonight's Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final at St Johnstone, thanked the fans involved. He said: "They went to a bar in Dundee and had a party.

"I had to go and pick him up when we got back from the game. It made me feel very good that the fans did that for my father and I would like to thank them for it."

In tonight's other tie, St Mirren host Motherwell in a repeat clash of Saturday's 3-3 SPL thriller.
