Cricket: McSkimming makes his return to Grange

Scottish cricket champions Grange have re-signed New Zealander Warren McSkimming as a professional for 2011.

The 31-year-old was a popular pro with the Raeburn Place outfit in 2008 and was due to return immediately only for plans to be thwarted by a back injury.

Since then the all-rounder McSkimming has regained fitness to remain an integral part of the Otago provincial side for whom he debuted over a decade ago.

Joe Barrett, a Grange spokesman, said: "The players are particularly delighted that Warren is able to return. As well as having plenty of ability on the pitch he will bolster our coaching." During his previous stint McSkimming was leading SNCL wicket-taker with 34 victims.

Meanwhile to help offset the retirement of spinner Andy Wilson the champions will field Dougie Philip who joined from Forfarshire midway through 2010 but regulations meant he had to play 2nd team cricket where he hit 195 in one match.
