Nicola Sturgeon found to be most popular person among Scots

A recent study has found that First Minister and leader of the SNP Nicola Sturgeon is the most widely appreciated person among Scots today. The analysis was carried out by market researchers YouGov, who asked around 30,000 Scottish people to rank 5,000 famous faces, celebrities and public figures by personal preference. Andy Murray and Billy Connolly were voted in second and third behind Sturgeon.

NaNoWriMo kicks off for another year

Worldwide internet-based creative project National Novel Writing Month (otherwise known as NaNoWriMo) began its 16th year yesterday, with hundreds of thousands of hopeful writers attempting to write an entire book during November. Those taking part have been taking to Twitter today with the hashtag #NaNoWriMo to share their progress and motivate both themselves and each other for what is sure to be a gruelling month ahead. All pieces of writing must reach a minimum of 50,000 words by noon on November 30 to qualify as a NaNoWriMo novel.
