Woman threatens to use teargas at ex-boyfriend's wedding

A JILTED Zimbabwean woman forced her ex-boyfriend to abandon his wedding ceremony by storming the church and brandishing teargas canisters, reports said this weekend.

In dramatic scenes, the furious woman, identified only as Rachel, threatened to detonate the canisters if ex-partner Blessing Dube went ahead with his church ceremony.

The waiting congregation was terrified into silence, reported the state-controlled Manica Post.

An embarrassed church official had to call off Saturday's ceremony between Dube and his new love, identified as Judith Chimukombe, which was being held in the town of Rusape in eastern Manicaland province.

The paper said: "Dube was … set to officially have the hand of the apple of his eye in marriage when Rachel popped up and vowed to have nothing of it."

The woman has two young children by Dube, who is employed by the Apostolic Faith Mission church. She said she felt "exploited" and broke into the venue accompanied by a party of angry relatives.
