Woman robs newsagent at gunpoint

A SHOP worker was threatened with a handgun during an armed robbery at a newsagent.

The woman was working at RS McColl in Newton Church Road, Danderhall, Midlothian, when another woman entered the store and demanded money from the till.

She made off with a three-figure sum and several packs of cigarettes, before fleeing towards the Edmonstone Road/Millerhill area. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 6:50pm on Tuesday.

The suspect is described as white, between 18 and 22 years old, around 5ft 8in, with a slim build and cropped blonde or fair hair. She had a "gaunt" appearance and pale complexion and was wearing a light-coloured cap, blue jeans, black gloves and white and red Nike trainers.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "We have a detailed description and are eager to hear from anyone who believes they recognise her."
