Uni applications drop

APPLICATIONS to Edinburgh University have fallen slightly on last year, despite record increases elsewhere.

As of 1 February, it had received 39,857 undergraduate applications, compared with 40,557 made by the same date last year, representing a 1.7 per cent drop in numbers.

A spokeswoman for the university said: "The quality of applications is higher than ever."
