Salt kills feathered friends, warns RSPB

PEOPLE who put salt into their bird-baths to stop them from freezing over are killing the creatures, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds warns.

The RSPB has issued the directive to its 1.2 million members after it received hundreds of calls about putting salt into bird-baths this winter.
