THOUSANDS of pensioners, trade unionists, students and other campaigners were set to join a demonstration today in support of the welfare state and public services, warning against spending cuts.
Groups ranging from the TUC and National Pensioners Convention to the Disability Alliance and British Medical Association are supporting the London event, called to highlight fears of "widespread" cuts to public spending after the General Election.
