‘Hostile’ climate for health and safety

THE UK’s safety record appears to be getting worse amid a “hostile” political climate to health and safety issues, the TUC has warned.

The union body said fewer visits were being made to workplaces by inspectors. Local authority safety teams were working with “substantially reduced” funding despite a rise in fatalities, said the TUC.
