Afghan threat taken seriously

The issue of “insider threats” to British troops in Afghanistan is being taken “extremely seriously at the very highest levels”, the deputy commander of the Nato mission in the country said
yesterday.

Lieutenant General Adrian Bradshaw, outgoing deputy commander of ISAF, and UK
contingent commander, said the campaign is moving in the right direction, but “there is still quite a bit to be done”.

Addressing the problem of insider threats – where Afghan soldiers and police have turned their weapons on international troops – he said countermeasures are
in place.

“Insider threat is being taken extremely seriously at the very highest levels,” he said.
