Try-outs for young golfers

BUDDING golfers can have a practice swing at the big time with a try-out event aimed at honing their skills.

The US Kids Golf Foundation - which holds its fourth annual European Championship in East Lothian at the end of May - is behind the project to help prodigies decide what they want to do in the game. Try-outs are being hosted by Gullane golf course.

Tournament co-ordinator Alasdair Good said: "Even if this doesn't unearth any Major winners, we hope to show children how they can learn positive life lessons through golf."
