The Scottish Government has announced 24 new speed camera locations around the country as it steps up efforts to cut road deaths and serious injuries. Transport secretary Michael Matheson revealed the series of new cameras as part of a £675,000 investment in improving road safety. Two new average speed cameras zones will be created along with eight fixed camera locations and 14 zones covered by mobile speed cameras, joining more than 600 existing speed and traffic light camera sites around the country. The new cameras were announced as part of the Scottish Government’s new Road Safety Framework to 2030 which sets a new target of zero road deaths and serious injuries by 2050.
