T in the Park update: Balado Goes Pop

With sunshine pouring over the site, T in The Park began in earnest today with a host of top names taking to the stage at Scotland's biggest music festival.

There has been more than a hint of pop in the air with a generation spanning line-up exemplified by back-to-back performances from the legendary Tom Jones and current chart favourite Eliza Doolittle.

71 year old Jones hailed the Scottish sun as he took to the Main Stage performing tracks from last year's 'Praise & Blame' album before causing a stir in the crowd with classics It's Not Unusual, Momma Told Me Not To Come and Delilah.

Despite the comparative lack of experience, Eliza Doolittle doesn't disappoint a packed King Tuts Wah Wah Hut Tent with her funk based pop. After performing on the T Break stage last year, Doolittle has had a stream of success. Top five single Pack Up was a highlight from an energetic and fun packed set from the diminutive star.

Fridat night also saw Yorkshire indie stars Arctic Monkeys headline the main stage with performances from Coldplay, Beyonce and Foo Fighters to come over the next two days.
