Superstore car park tragedy

AN ELDERLY woman died after being knocked down in a Tesco car park, police said yesterday.

Catherine Keyes, 85, died after sustaining a head injury in the collision on Tuesday in the car park of the Tryst Road store in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Strathclyde Police said: "The woman was walking through the car park in the supermarket when she was struck by a vehicle, which is reported to have been reversing out of a parking space."

Relatives have been informed and a report will be sent to the procurator-fiscal.
