Supermarket apprentices win qualifications

A SUPERMARKET in Edinburgh has handed certificates to 15 apprentices who have qualified thanks to a new scheme.

It means Morrisons in Granton now has a clutch of new butchers and bakers. The shop gave out the awards, which coincided with the announcement of a new initiative to generate 12,000 new apprentice positions across the UK.

Norman Pickavance, group HR director, said: "Our colleagues who have gained their qualifications this week have shown enthusiasm and a can-do attitude."
