Splashing out to help Haiti

FOUR eight-year-old schoolboys from Musselburgh have raised hundreds of pounds for Haiti earthquake victims with a sponsored swim.

Pinkie St Peters pupil Finlay Gray organised the swim at Musselburgh Sports Centre and roped in friends Jamie Hudson, Brodie Mackay and James Henry.

The boys, who are all beginner swimmers, decided to try and swim 15 lengths each but smashed their goal, achieving a combined total of 110 lengths.

Family and friends have sponsored them to the tune of 440, which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal for Haiti.

Finlay's mother, Lisa, said: "Just the fact he's done something for somebody else and really wanted to help was great."
