Shona hooks album award

AN album inspired by East Lothian's fisherfolk has won the national marketing award of Scottish organisation Culture Sparks.

People and Songs of the Sea by Shona McMillan was inspired by Shona's own family, the Thorburns of Fisherrow, and features Scottish and Irish artists.

The album was named Creative Project of the Decade by Irish American News in its Best of the Decade Irish Music list a year after being named Compendium Album of the Year 2010 by LiveIreland Celtic music radio station.

Shona said she was "delighted" to win the national marketing award.

She said: "It's been a great surprise to win considering the strength of the finalists.

"I set out to try and do something positive to contribute to my local area."
