Rock star David Gilmour's son on riot charge

The son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has been charged in connection with the attack on a royal convoy of cars during a student fees riot, a court has heard.

Charlie Gilmour, 21, a student at Cambridge University, is accused of violent disorder during the disturbance in Regent Street, London, on 9 December when a car carrying the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall was attacked.

Gilmour, who appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday, was also originally charged with stealing a mannequin leg, but that charge had been withdrawn. The case was adjourned to 25 March.
