Rare music texts go on display

A COLLECTION of rare musical texts separated for 400 years have been reunited in the Capital ahead of an exhibition.

The 16th century manuscripts by Catholic monk turned Presbyterian minister Thomas Wode will go on display to the public next month.

The Wode Psalter, composed between 1562 and 1592, set the 106 psalms to four-part harmonies The eight manuscripts are usually housed in four separate cities in Europe and the US - Dublin, London, Edinburgh and Washington DC - but are being brought together for the exhibition at Edinburgh University.

Singing The Reformation runs from August 6 to Occtober 28.
