Raoul Moat: Flowers and letters left in tribute to gunman

THE strange cult of Raoul Moat grew yesterday as nearly 50 bouquets of flowers were placed outside his home in Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne, along with a rambling tribute to the killer in which it was claimed he had "won hearts of real people".

Other flowers were left at the scene of the stand-off with armed police at Riverside Park in Rothbury, Northumberland.

As people came to the quiet riverside spot - popular with dog lovers and walkers - to pay their respects, police continued their painstaking searches.

One handwritten tribute was headlined "Raoul Thomas Moat Mis-understood".

It went on: "No need to feel trapped or bullied now. Well mate time will tell the real reasons why its all come to this.

"You have won hearts of the real people now. Its just a shame they didn't listen years ago.
