Pupils gear up for aquathlon

YOUNGSTERS in West Lothian are set to be put through their paces as part of a junior aquathlon.

The event, which takes place at West Calder High School on October 2, will include various distances of swimming and running for youngsters aged eight to 14.

The aquathlon has been organised by GRC Tri - a group of dedicated people with a passion for taking part in a triathlon and getting people involved in training and events.

The group currently has more than 20 members aged eight to 66. Activities consist of six training sessions a week and taking part in triathlon and duathlon events.

The club has already held two training sessions at Whitburn Academy as part of the Active Schools Initiative.
