Police chase man falls ill

A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after collapsing during a police chase.

The 28-year-old was allegedly attempting to break into vehicles on Easter Dalry Wynd when he was reported to police on Wednesday around 4.40pm.

The man fled but soon collapsed and paramedics had to rush him to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A police spokesman said the suspect appeared to have suffered a seizure and remains seriously ill.
