Letter: Rally great

I was surprised the excellent article on the forthcoming Monte Carlo Rally did not mention The Scotsman's own entry in 1971 (feature, 20 October).

A second-hand competition Mini was purchased by The Scotsman and the crew of Andrew Cowan and Johnstone Syer headed for Monte Carlo carrying The Scotsman logo and with a thistle painted on the roof.

It is now rallying history that it won its class and I hope the Monte Carlo trophy is still on display in The Scotsman offices.
