Letter: Keep to the path

I TOTALLY agree with Hugh Mackenzie's letter (6 August) about how often people on bicycles do not use designated cycle paths.

There is a well-signposted cycle path adjacent to the A7 between Selkirk and Galashiels, but cyclists are still prepared to put their lives, and those of drivers, at risk by using the main road. Why build cycle paths in the first place?
