Iran executions

There is something profoundly unjust about misrepresenting innocent people who have been hanged by a government (Iran) that practises torture, rape and execution.

Reuters News Agency did this by running a report on 9 May about the execution of five Iranian political activists including a young woman and a primary school teacher.

The report claimed four of the executed were involved in a bombing in Iran in 2008 that resulted in 14 deaths. However, three of the people executed were in prison by 2006 and remained in prison until their death, according to the Iranian government sources Reuters used for its report.

Therefore, they could not have been involved in the 2008 bombing. I am disappointed that on this occasion Reuters fell below its basic principle of accuracy.
