Nursing faces staffing crisis

A RISE in nursing students dropping out could lead to a staffing crisis in the future, it has been warned.

The Royal College of Nursing in Edinburgh said both the NHS and the Scottish Government should do more to support students through their nursing courses.

Associate director Ellen Hudson said: "The number of nursing students dropping out of their courses is increasing.

"We are very concerned, as a shortage of nursing students now could well lead to a shortage of registered nurses in the future."
