New manager for city hotel

A FORMER restaurant manager has taken over an award-winning city centre hotel.

Andy Dempster is the new general manager of the Rutland Hotel, which was named the best new hotel in Scotland last year.

He has previously been general manager of the Italian restaurant Gusto, on George Street, owned by Living Ventures.

Mr Dempster, 33, said he wanted to make the West End hotel "the place to be seen" in Edinburgh. The hotel reopened in 2008 following a 4 million revamp.

He said: "My key objective is to continue the award-winning success of the Rutland but also to change the outdated perception of what the venue is by establishing what it truly is – one of Edinburgh's premier venues to eat, drink and party."
