Naan better as Lothians curry house takes top prize

A LOTHIANS restaurateur is celebrating after winning at the annual British Curry Awards.

Matin Khan won the Best Caterer of the Year Award for Scotland and Northern Ireland in recognition of his food at Itihaas Restaurant in Dalkeith.

The annual celebration of the UK's curry industry took place in London last night at a ceremony hosted by Eastenders actor Nitin Ganatra and Daybreak presenter Tasmin Lucia Khan.

Bajloor Rashid, president of BCA, said: "We feel that this milestone 50th anniversary provides us with an excellent opportunity to celebrate the past, to highlight over five decades of hard work, personal sacrifice, and significant success in creating and protecting this national treasure of ours, now part of British heritage.

"We are excited to welcome entries for the best of Asian cuisine and restaurants and look forward to unveiling new unfound jewels of our catering industry. "
