Man hunted after post office robbery

DETECTIVES are hunting a man who assaulted a female post office worker during a robbery before making off with a five-figure sum of cash.

The employee was opening up at the Nitshill Post Office in Glasgow at around 7.50am yesterday when a man she answered the door to pushed her inside, assaulted her and forced her to open the safe. He then made off along Peat Road.

The 45-year-old woman did not require hospital treatment. Strathclyde Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen the attacker to contact them. Detective Inspector Scott McMillan said: “The suspect is described as white, of heavy build, about 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a high-visibility jacket. It may be that due to the fact he was wearing this jacket, people in the area might have seen him hanging about the post office or running off after the robbery.”
