Man charged with theft of electronic hardware

A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of electronic hardware from a Lothian company following a break-in.

The 21-year-old from Loanhead was detained by police investigating the raid on the premises of Canongate Technology, based in the town's Edgefield Road Industrial Estate, last Wednesday.

A quantity of electronic hardware, reels of multi-core cable, and stainless steel fittings were stolen at the time of the break-in, valued at around 6,000. The items have since been recovered.

A report is set to be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a second theft from the industrial estate in Loanhead, which was carried out last Thursday at around 5am.

Goods from a fully-stocked delivery van at JB Foods were stolen during the raid. CCTV images show three men loading goods into two nearby vehicles.

A police spokeswoman said: "Members of the public with information are requested to come forward."
