Majority back changes to voting system

A SURVEY by the Evening News has found a majority in favour of changing the voting system for Westminster.

Nearly 57 per cent said they would vote Yes to replace the current first-past-the-post system with the Alternative Vote. Just over 30 per cent said they would vote No.

The same survey found 76.9 per cent thought the SNP and Alex Salmond had run the best campaign in the Holyrood election.

The SNP also came out on top as having the best policies in a range of areas, from jobs to the trams.

More than 90 per cent described Mr Salmond as a strong leader, though 57 per cent also saw him as arrogant, while 82 per cent said Labour leader Iain Gray was dull.
