Jobseekers urged to log on for advice

A NEW scheme to help young people in Scotland compete in the jobs market is being launched this week.

Last summer, an extra 1860 18 to 24-year-olds signed on to Jobseeker's Allowance in the Capital, while an extra 340 signed on in East Lothian, 370 in Midlothian and 915 in West Lothian.

With school-leavers now in possession of their exam results, young jobseekers are being urged to get ahead of the crowd by following the new 21 Day Challenge on the Student Room website.

Donna Donnachie from Jobcentre Plus said: "We know that it takes around 21 days for an activity to become a habit so school-leavers can follow these tips to get it right from the start.

"By doing something each day, jobseekers will be taking small achievable steps to their ultimate goal and maintain motivation in this tough market."

The tips and advice cover everything from CV writing to preparing for interviews.
