High and dry after pipe theft

FAMILIES living in a tower block were left high and dry after thieves stole copper pipes from its boiler room.

Residents of 53 flats in the 13-storey Tillydrone Court in Aberdeen raised the alarm after waking to find they had no running water yesterday.

A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council said: “Council officers are working to reinstate the supply. In the meantime, residents are being provided with bottled water and Grampian Fire and Rescue Service is due to routinely fill the communal water tank in the block, which will provide a temporary supply.”

The boiler room is believed to have been stripped of copper between midnight and 4am.
