Helicopter rescue: Woman with 'suspected broken ankle' airlifted by helicopter from Carradale to Glasgow Queen Elizabeth hospital

Carradale on Kilbrannan Sound, Kintyre, Argyll.

An air ambulance from Glasgow landed on Carradale Golf Course on Thursday afternoon after a woman appeared to have broken her ankle on a Kintyre beach.

At around 5pm on Wednesday, April 28, an air ambulance from Glasgow landed at Carradale Golf Course after a woman was reported to have broken her ankle on Carradale bay near Campbeltown in Argyll.

A Scottish Ambulance Service vehicle transported the woman up to the golf club to the helicopter following the incident.

The woman was then airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital for treatment.

It is understood she is not in a critical condition.

A witness who wishes to remain anonymous said: “A woman has a suspected broken ankle and she’s been airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth.

"It happened on the beach.”

"But the patient is okay- it’s just a suspected broken ankle.”

The operation was done ‘very smoothly’ by emergency services, according to the witness.
